So this week's weather reports again predict rain. Definitely tomorrow they say, and maybe the whole rest of the week. I've never seen such a cold and wet spring in Berkeley. We usually have the last of our cold and rain near the end of March, but here it is almost the end of May and it's still coming in.

Except yesterday.

Sunday, when K. and I walked to the library, I noticed that it was unusually warm, to the point where I took off my overshirt. (Still not quite 70, mind you, but warmish.) I'd been planning to spend the whole day reading and writing (before the massive Lost marathon), but after seeing that the weather was nicer than it'd been in weeks, I hopped on my bike and rode down to the Bay.

I did my normal "short" Bay ride, which is the strip from Berkeley to Emeryville. It would be pretty short if we lived on the Bay, but with getting down there and back it comes in close to an hour. I did it backward yesterday, going from Emeryville to Berkeley rather than vice-versa, and learned that doesn't work nearly as well. Though it's pretty easy to get over the mess of roads, highways, and tracks in Emeryville heading eastward, the same is definitely not true going westward, because the bike paths are unidirectional. Bummer. And stupid design. So in the future I'll return to my normal route.

It was kinda warmish while I was biking. I was able to do the ride in t-shirt without feeling cold. But I never felt exactly warm either. There was a fair amount of wind, and I really felt it as I got going. Fortunately it was all coming straight off the Bay, so when I was riding into it, I was heading down hill.

A fun ride over all. I'd expected it to take 60-75 minutes and instead it was a bit under 60.

Today: cool again. I've got extra layers on while inside my house. In May. Almost June. Pfeh.
