Unexpected Lack of Gaming
May. 22nd, 2010 09:53 pmDespite plans, we ended up not roleplaying today. Two of the players I thought were going to be there weren't, and so it ended up being just me, Kevin, and Donald--as we discovered after we'd all arrived at Endgame. A couple of years ago, my lower limit was 4 players. I've since revised that down to 3. But 2 was still a bridge further than I wanted, because of how much more effort it takes to GM the fewer players you have.
So, we kind of looked around dumbly at each other for a bit. I knew that Kevin had been down on board games lately because there were too competitive. But when I stared at the demo games available to EndGame (in this case, thanks to the fine folks at Z-Man Games), I saw Pandemic. Cooperative game. Pretty easy to play. It seemed like a good choice.
And, it was. We played through three games. One at the introductory level and two at the basic level. To my surprise we won 2 of the 3. (I've usually had pretty terrible luck with the game.) We called it quits a bit after 4 o'clock. I was home by 5 (after biking through a veritable windstorm--most of which was fortunately not directly in my face.)
I'm taking Memorial Day off from GMing, so the next game will be Savage Tide in two weeks. Then, when we actually get back to Traveller in three weeks, I'll have an adventure already prepped!
