In the news today: the soldiers in Iraq (and Afghanistan) are becoming indentured servants. Under a new order they won't be allowed to retire or end their service even if they've completed they're contractual agreement:
Instead, they get to stay until their entire unit has returned home from the front. The apparent reason? Not enough soldiers to keep up with all of Bush's little wars.
Don't worry, though, folks, I'm sure Bush won't be reinstituting the draft to help keep all his oil buddies in business ... at least not until after elections.

Date: 2004-01-06 06:43 am (UTC)Army units are back after 9 months. Reserve? They just got told they'll be there 15 months, which is why most of them just got their 15 day 'leave' over the recent holidays.
So we've the less trained, poorer paid, more disgruntled reserve units staying over there.
smart move.
