Dreams & Weekends
Nov. 3rd, 2003 01:30 pmWoke this morning a minute before the alarm went off with sleep still heavy in my eyes because I'd been deep in the clutches of dreams. It was my most common dream theme: Back to School. As an adult I was back in High School, going from room to room, taking classes. Usually when I have this dream, it feels sort of hopeless, like a giant step back, but last night it was just business as usual. I can't recall too much about it, other than the fact that
kimberly_a was there too, a first for my back-to-school dreams. She was taking one of the classes with me, then headed off to do something of her own while I took my last class of the day.
The (waking) weekend was unspectacular. I've already written about Friday & our trip to San Jose, which was the only truly out of the ordinary bit. Saturday was spent gaming during the day--just like last week a fun combination of ErzoQuest and Diceland: Space--and then watching Alias in the evening.
We actually finished up season one of Alias by watching the last three episodes, and I was quite proud of myself afterward because I'd been able to predict the cliffhanging scene of episode 22 sometime while watching episode 14 or 15. I'd sussed out the character introduced, the major revelation, and even the last word of the season. Go me. Kimberly says I should write for television.
Picked up a few trade paperbacks on Sunday which were generally disappointing (they were the first H-E-R-O trade from DC and the second Mark Waid Fantastic Four trade from Marvel), which is a pity. Didn't work out on Sunday like I usually do because I'm still having too many weird aches and pains when I'm up and active. Not working out is really pissing me off, but I don't want to reinjure myself if it's something that's reinjurable. However, my patience is nearly at an end.
Afterward there was some TV in the evening (Stargate Season 4) and some accounting and I wrote about half of an article I was supposed to write this weekend. Planning to finish it up tonight, or at least work on it a bit more. It's about elves in Glorantha, of course.
I've had a new itch lately, which is to design a strategy game or two, but I've been trying to ignore that because I've got too much else to do, including writing a rulebook for a strategy game that should actually get published (but isn't mine).
Back to work today, and catching up on all of my correspondences from the weekend. Need to take a break within the next hour to go down to Wells Fargo and wire the money needed to close up our refinance on the house.
Busy, busy. As usual.
