Secret Writing
Aug. 18th, 2003 10:43 pmI have, in recent days, been sneaking in some real writing. Not just reviews or game design articles, but real fictional works (for the HeroQuest game). Shhh! don't tell my brain, or else I'll realize I'm too tired out to do this sort of thing.
I don't know what exactly got me going, but the real kick in the butt came when I visited this page on upcoming attractions for the HeroQuest game and saw this:
Then this:
It's the latter book that's really held my attention the most, probably because it's the most fictional. I've had a great ToC for it for ages, and have been writing myths down one by one as the mood strikes. But, it was also the most nebulous book, and it was unclear if there'd ever be a real publication space.
Well, with it actually listed as part of a series, I'm trying to make sure the mood strikes to write these more frequently. I really should chat about it with the line editor, show him my uber-outline and the 5000 or 8000 words I've written so far, but I'm afraid that the energy will leave me again, as it has a few times since I started this project, and everything will go on hiatus.
We'll see if I can keep up the writing on a semi-daily basis or so. And if we can keep it secret from my brain.

Leaves of Life, Player's Book for Elves
Project Coordinator: Shannon Appelcline.
The elven kind are more than just the guardians of their woods, they are part of them, born of the great goddess Aldrya and bound together by their common Song. This book introduces aldryami as player characters but also provides information and adventures for outsiders forced to enter their leafy realms. For too long, humans and other Takers have cut down the trees and despoiled the primal forests which once girdled Glorantha, but now the Song reaches a new pitch and the aldryami prepare to retake what was once Aldrya's.
Then this:
Myths and Legends Series
These are non-game books that detail the stories and legends of a particular Gloranthan culture. They are enjoyable in their own right, and are also a source for HeroQuest players to exploit the mythic resources of their heroes' society.
Green Goddesses, the Plant Mythos
