Health scheduling drama out of the way, today I was able to return to RWOT-as-usual.
That means, in main, that I wrote. We outlined a whole paper on biometrics on Tuesday, and also laid out the core of the paper that we were going to write today. Then we spent the morning brainstorming our content for that core and wrote it in the morning and afternoon. (After finishing up the couple of sections I'd claimed, I also drafted the introduction to the piece.)
I have a dream that we'll actually finish a raw draft of this prior to the end of tomorrow, but that'll take
(1) a case study; (2) massaging a lot of different material together; and (3) a conclusion. We shall see; I plan to be massaging guy tomorrow. In any case, it's nicely along.
The other notable thing today was the first Rebooting the Web of Trust board meeting. Christopher has been welcoming in people to help with Web of Trust for the last couple of outings, and this one was actually put on by Joe, who's done a great job.
But, this was the first time the board was really announced, and got to sit down and talk about stuff.
It was exciting to see the organization maturing, and to consider that it could go on even if the early principals moved on. (I'd like to think that they'd be hard-set to replace a certain cat-wrangling editor, as it's some decent time and moreso effort that I put in, but it also would be nice if there were someone else with the ability to do that at some time.)
I continued to browse around Santa Barbara a bit today. Not really a lot, because I'm trying to pace myself, and not end up in a huge kidney-stone induced attack. And I'm pretty fatigued at the end of each day, from some combination of socializing, taking alpha blockers, and warding off pain.
But, I took a slightly out of the way route down to the shore today, which let me walk along the beach on the way to the Narrative Loft, where we're meeting. Then I continued along the shore on the way home, until I got to central Santa Barbara. I walked up the Stearns Wharf before turning back and heading home.
The beach walks were very nice. The (nearby) sand and surf are of course pleasant, but it was also great seeing beautiful, lurid sunrises and sunsets against the darkening silhouettes of palm trees.
So, it's pretty here. And a bit warmer than the Bay Area, which is nice in late winter.
