Finally, looked at the parts of my last name on placesnamed:

- Cline is the 595th most popular last name (surname) in the United States; frequency is 0.020%; percentile is 37.200 [SourceCBN]
Sounds like
I find it somewhat nice to know that there are another 50,000 guys in the United States who also had to hear taunts of "Shannon is a girl's name; Shannon is a girl's name" while growing up. Though I wonder how many of them started going by "Shan" or "Sean" or "Bruce" when they were in Jr. High.
I find it somewhat sad that the 123rd most popular female name has already dropped to .175% frequency and that we're already down to the 47th percentile. That's a damned lot of conformity in this country. But then among the 8 or 9 people who game at my place on Saturdays there are 3 Davids and 2 Erics, so I shouldn't be surprised. (And, looking at placesnamed stats a little more, it appears that one out of ten men in the US is named either James [#1], John [#2], or Robert [#3]. You should have one in your fairly immediate family.)
