The Occupy Humor Writes Itself
Nov. 29th, 2011 10:35 pmSo Occupiers returned to Oakland today to retake the plaza. With a teepee. A teepee that they even got a permit for when the city made them.
Meanwhile, I found this gem from a news story a few weeks ago:
I do have more respect for some of the things being reported today, namely:
Attorney Kirk Boyd, a member of Occupy Oakland's legal working group, called the teepee "a victory for first amendment rights.”That one doesn't even require comment, it's so ridiculous. But, I think Mr. Boyd needs to look up the first amendment, because it's about free speech, not free erection. I mean, unless they plan to all assemble in that teepee or something.

Meanwhile, I found this gem from a news story a few weeks ago:
A proposal to conduct outreach to north, west and the east Oakland communities was shot down earlier. Here's a hint for San Jose reporters not familiar with Oakland: don't use the phrases "west Oakland", "east Oakland", and "shot down" in the same sentence unless you mean it literally or ironically. Also, your structure isn't parallel, but that's neither here nor the there.

I do have more respect for some of the things being reported today, namely:
“We need to stay in people’s minds, in the minds of the 99 percent,” said Boyd. “The most difficult thing is to keep this momentum and transition into something that changes the social order.”Damned right, and you've been fumbling it for over a month now. Good luck with doing better. You might want to start out by throwing fewer bottles and assaulting fewer Christmas shoppers.
