More Helicopters

shannon_aGot those damned helicopters circling again. This time it's not students in trees throwing poop, but (I assume) the campus Republican brats' attempt to make a point. You see, to protest the possible return of affirmative action to higher education in the state, they're having a bake sale where you can buy a cupcake for $2 if you're white, $.75 if you're black, $.25 if you're American Indian, etc.*
A lot of folks have called them racist, and I disagree ... at least in what's being presented in this bake sale. However, they're remarkably tone deaf to the reasons for affirmative action. If 1 in 5 of the customers who bought discounted cupcakes was suddenly and violently killed and another 1 in 5 was taken into custody by the police for no reason, you might start to have a better simulation.
But I hate the damned circling helicopters ...
* Some people have called them brilliant, but it's apparently a stunt that's been making the rounds over the last few years.
