Final Day on Kauai

shannon_aDecided to take it easy today. There was thus no swimming, but we did did a ride along the south coast. Our destination was Waimea, which is about 15 miles west of Kalaheo. The reason for our trip was shave ice. We'd had shave ice previously at Poipu, but The Original Jojo's, which my dad introduced us to last visit, has a much wider selection of flavors than any other shave ice places I know. Thus I got chocolate and two other flavors (strawberry and cherry, as it happens, though I barely tasted the strawberry); the result was much less colorful than my rainbow shave ice of my first day here, but much tastier.
Mmm, chocolate shave ice.
Other than that, there was much reading during the day. Oh, and a last trip to the Maka house, to get out some mysterious extra windows and a few other final things. (My dad grouched more than once about renters leaving things, which included a 5-gallon jug of oil.)
This evening, my dad and Mary have their bible study group, here at the house. Kimberly and I briefly introduced ourselves, partook of a bit of potluck, then returned to the downstairs to hide.
So, more reading tonight. And we're mostly packed and all our clothes but our delicates (and my swim-wear, which I forgot) are washed, which'll allow me nice stone-washed Hawaiian shirts to wear when I return to the cold of the Bay Area. (Though it looks to have been relatively warm there while we've been gone).
I also finished my RPG history of R. Talsorian tonight. I got about half of it done on the plane ride here, then I edited bits and pieces during times when everyone else in the house was asleep. Which was surprisingly often. Since it had been done so piecemeal, I did a final read of the thing tonight. I think I'm going to work on Kenzer & Company on the plane ride back which should be simple enough (especially since they've done so little of note since 2007) to finish on the flight. Maybe.
And tomorrow is much flying. I'm looking forward to seeing kitties.
