My dad is started to do better today, so we ended up going (back) out to Poipu. I did some swimming, really paying attention to the fish this time. I identified racoon butterflyfish, threadfin butterflyfish, a rare four-spot butterfly fish, a picasso triggerfish (I've seen one every time I've been swimming this trip), many unicornfish, and many others I do not have names for. My dad, meanwhile, sat on shore and baked in the sun. He seemed to really enjoy it, saying how relaxing it was and that he hadn't just sat on the beach for a long time.

I think I've had enough swimming at Poipu, so if we do get out to the beach again before we leave (which is largely if my dad is feeling well enough & if I haven't succumbed to his plague), we'll go elsewhere. I have several possibilities, which offer different fish, boogie boarding, or just a beach we've never been to.

Afterward we went back to the Maka house because some things needed to be done there, since my dad & Mary (apparently) have renters. So we worked together to put some towel racks up. And by work together I meant that he showed me how to do things, then let me do them, as opposed to the me-watching-him-do-things of my youth. It was really nice. Afterward we spent a while clearing tools and such out of the house. That was just work. We were both pretty tired by the time we were done, and there's still at least as much to be cleared out tomorrow. Ah well.

As we worked around the Maka house, I marveled at the fact that Kimberly and I might possibly live there some day, as it's the house that Mary plans to start giving to us ... this year I believe. The possibility is surely at least a decade off and might never occur, but it was weird catching a glimpse of a possible future from so far away.

Generally, though, another restful day!
