Politics: The War is All About Money
Mar. 21st, 2003 01:14 pmForget for a moment about the billions of barrels of oil that the President is trying to get ahold of through the war with Iraq.
Goings on in the Senate are now making it clear that the war is also about obfuscation, manipulation and most importantly--making money at home. Under the cloud of war, Bush has convinced Republican moderates that they must vote with him to show unity.
The result? The dividend tax cuts, which were generally on their way out before the start of war are now a step closer to law.

Our economy sucks. The middle class is getting smaller and the lower class is getting bigger. The average amount of time the unemployed have been out of work is at an unprecedented level. We're footing a huge bill for an unwarranted war in the Middle East. States are facing huge deficits, and we're cutting money paid out to Medicaid and other vital social services.
So clearly it makes great sense for Bush to push through another tax cut which almost entirely benefits the rich.
