Storms, Gloves & Email

Ah, such an exciting set of topics.
Storms. We've certainly been getting a lot of storms through since Sunday, though today was the first one that really impressed me. For about 15-30 minutes there was lightning, thunder, and on-and-off torrential rain and even a bit of hail. Poor Lucy was terrified. She's gotten better about storms in the last few years, but this one was too much for her. She ended up running to the middle of our upstairs hallways and sitting there, presumably because that's as far as she could get from any windows.
Gloves. Though we've been getting storms, they've really been on and off, with hours often passing between individual bouts of rain. Though there was no chance of me going on a bike adventure on Sunday, as I'd hoped, I did take advantage of one of the breaks between storms that day to head down to REI and get some biking gloves. I've been wanting them since last year, and having Christmas money again encourage me to actually make a purchase. I'm pretty happy with the gloves I got which are good and form fitting, but still kept my hands warm when I was riding home. I don't think they cost me much in manual dexterity, but it was very odd not really feeling my gears when I flipped them. Even better: January sale prices.
Email. So I've looked around a bit for a new email client since yesterday. Today I tried out Seamonkey as a Firefox + Thunderbird replacement. It's supposed to be thinner and faster than the main Mozilla lines but as of this evening it's crept up to 500Mb of memory usage from a starting value of 120Mb. I guess Mozilla just has leaks all over. So, not looking like a good replacement thus far. Perhaps I'll try Apple's own Email tomorrow and see what I think.
