Our young cat, Lucy, just destroyed her second collar.

The first one was last year, when she was still a kit. It was a cheap little collar that came with her from the rescue operation, and it didn't really have a proper hole-punch for the collar clasp, and thus when she managed to pry it off, I could never get it back on (especially not, you know, with her biting my hand).

The second one was a nice collar that we got for her at the Basic Bird last year. It was a safety collar that had some elastic bands that would rip apart if she ever tried to strangle herself with the collar. Well, the other night she managed to rip them apart all on her own. I'm not sure how. I guess she could have gotten it caught on something, but I find it more likely that she ripped it apart with brute strength.

So now she looks like our little barbarian cat. We were so used to seeing her with collar that she looks positively naked without.

Kimberly and I are planning to go to La Med for our anniversary dinner tomorrow (provided that antibiotic side effects aren't making me sick), and if so we'll stop by the Basic Bird (which is next door) to buy her collar #3.

Maybe she'd be better off without a collar? Most shelters use a microchip in the tag now than a collar. Besides, most cats will use the side of their face and their neck to mark territory, and it's possible the rubbing irritated her neck.

oh yeah!

My Finn wouldn't keep a collar for more than a week.
