The weekend is now drawing to a close, and I'm happy to say that it was a most excellent weekend of writing!

Elf Book. I finished up just shy of 5k of writing here, which was even a bit more than I'd planned.

First up was the history section of the elf book, which I'd plotted out to expand from 3.2k to 4.8k to better allow for discussions of the blue, yellow, and red elves who weren't in the book when I first wrote this section, but are now. I did that, also massively revising the whole section in the process. It's now been updated to better integrate with all of the forest and racial histories I've written since I first drafted it, and also reflects some of Robin Law's history from Glorantha: The Second Age.

Everything's a more cohesive whole now, it flows betters, it features all of the elf races, and introduces a few new deities which I didn't know about before, which will be helpful when I get to the magic section. Laws' mini-history of the Aldryami in the Second Age book was at odds with my history in some places, and I was at first planning to ignore the most egregious differences, which were a few mythological issues (and which can be hand-waved by saying, "I guess the God Learners changed that), but I eventually figure out how to make it all work, and I'm very happy with the results.

I also wrote the entire section on the Errinoru Jungle, which is another 3.2k. This is one of the most derivative parts of the book, because it's been written about to the tune of at least a thousand words in a few places, and thus it also required a lot of research to make sure I got it right. (Sitting on my desk right now: Gloranthan Bestiary, the Hero Wars Glorantha, both books from Elder Secrets, Missing Lands, Tales of the Reaching Moon #11, Cults of Terror, the Cults book from Gods of Glorantha, Tradetalk #14, and the Genertela book from the RuneQuest Glorantha.) I think there's some nice new clarity introduced in my writeup, however, and some fresh stuff too, particularly in the history section which melds together several sources.

I'm now antsy to write an Elf Empire book for Mongoose's RQ game. I should figure out who to contact there.

Other Writing. Thursday's Gone Gaming is ready to go, with five games from Essen highlighted.

The next Knucklebones article on auction games is complete in a first draft, and I'm happy with it.

And I did a medium-level revision on my upcoming ICE history, with some feedback I got from someone who had worked with ICE confirming some guesses about what drove ICE toward bankruptcy the various times.

Total writing for everything planned was thus about 8-9k, with another 5k or so of serious editing thrown in for good measure. Not bad for the weekend.

I also just wrote my actual play session from Saturday's RPG game, The Village of Hommlet.

Whew. I scarcely know what to do with myself now.

I guess I should figure out what other writing I have to do while Kimberly is out of town. According to my schedule I'd like to get another 800 Elf Book words written each of Monday and Tuesday ... and maybe Wednesday, depending on how I feel after gaming. I'd also like to get one review out this week, on an old game called Clippers. I'm less concerned with the RPG histories for the moment, because according to my schedule the next history, likely to be on Lion Rampant, doesn't need to post until January.

I guess I should generally keep concentrating on the Elf Book since it's the biggest piece with a relatively near deadline.
