Jan. 30th, 2006 10:46 amI spent part of this weekend tabulating the votes for Gone Gaming's Board Game Internet Awards. I used a simple Instant Runoff Voting system to do so (and was able to thanks to the experience I gained on the topic cowriting articles on Collective Choice with
christophera_).
The system worked OK, though I learned that IRV doesn't work quite as well when the number of votes is less than or on par with the number of votees (because then the chance of votes clustering in such a way that eliminations can't occur increases). In any case, that was resolved fine by going to next-place votes as a tie-breaker.
Most of what I wanted to win did, though I think The 100 was robbed (but honestly, Tom Vasel's Interviews by an Optimist was a good choice for that category).
Anyway, the complete results are here:

The whole idea is "awards for Internet-related board-game content", so you'll find great blogs, podcasts, videocasts, game sites, gaming sites, and more featured.
(I spent another part of the weekend doing up all the graphics for the awards. Oy.)
