I'm always a bit embarassed when I can't keep track of peoples' names who I've played with multiple times. So, for my own reference, here's who I gamed with yesterday.

Alexandros. Brody
Mexica. Brody, Luke, Alex
Titan: The Arena. Bob, Luke
Taj Mahal. Bob, Luke, Eric V.
Antike. Eric V., Sheila, Aaron, ?
Tower of Babel. Sheila, Aaron, ?
Bohnanza. Sheila, Aaron, ?

Sheila, Aaron, Luke, and ? were all new people that I'd never gamed with before. Sheila & Aaron were both engineers from Santa Rosa who I probably won't see often since it's an hour trip for them. Luke was similarly from a south-bay game group (or maybe it was a north-bay game group) who turned out in mass for the gameday, but isn't usually around on Wednesday. ? was a high-school kid who's name I never caught. He lives down in Alameda and indicated that he'd be back.

Alex I should be able to keep track of because I've played quite a few games with him in the last few months. He likes to play a lot of b&p's, which I don't particularly. He was the one who offered up the Three Stooges Game I played in December. I've also played his copies of Through the Desert and Alhambra, which are more my speed.

On wednesday some folks that I played with that I should be able to keep track of now are Adam and Matt. Adam is Chinese, and has been coughing and sneezing the last few times I've seen him. I thought he was sick & contagious the first time, but it was just the same a few week's later. He played very, very slowly at a few games on Wednesday. Matt I don't have very much of an impression of, other than the fact that he's a nice guy, has good taste in games (except he doesn't like tactical games, like Kramer's Exotic Locations series), and he plays at a good clip.

Anyway, when I wrote about my games played yesterday I said, "Not much you can say about a Bohnanza game, however." That's actually not true.

When we were setting up the game Santa Rosa Aaron (as opposed to runs-the-store Aaron) was talking about the third bean field and said that no one ever gets them because they're not worthwhile. I immediately thought that sounded like a bunch of groupthink from his own playing group, and set out to prove it wrong. Which is funny, because if most of the group gets a third bean field, I usually avoid it and try and scrape by on my two, hoping that the loss of efficiency will be paid off in that extra three gold.

So, I purchased a third bean field at my first need to otherwise rip something up that would have been valuable. Aaron, despite his earlier words, followed quickly in my footsteps. I don't remember if the other two bought fields or not. And, as I wrote yesterday, I won by one gold;).

I'm going to guess that Luke was in fact from the north bay, since I can't imagine anyone from the south bay coming to Oakland when they could go to the Los Altos Public Library instead. (Which is where I was instead of at Endgame.)
