Had a good, though busy weekend.
As I'd planned I stayed home from RPGing on Saturday and instead worked on a RPGnet system I've been working on for about a month. I'd like to say I made a lot of progress, but I'm actually in that heavily futzing part of programming where there are innumerable small things to do. However I did get a number of those small items off my list, and figured out some design questions.
I've still got about a dozen things to do, which will be a challenge since I wanted a release at the end of the month, but we'll see how it goes. I did get several hours of work in on Saturday.
Throughout the weekend I've been reading Anansi Boys, the new Neil Gaiman book which David G. was kind enough to lend me on Wednesday. I've actually been crashing out on the couch in the Sun Room and just reading at various times, which I've haven't done very often lately.
The book is enjoyable, though not up to the quality of Gaiman's two masterpieces (The Sandman and American Gods). In fact, this reminds me most of Good Omens, and there's nothing wrong with that. (I adored Good Omens when it came out, but found out a year or two ago that it didn't hold up to a second reading.)
I was hoping to finish AB before the end of the weekend, but at worst I'll finish it up tomorrow so that I can return it to David on Wednesday.
Did weeding today, as Kimberly & I have been doing almost every weekend recently. Kimberly's been spending time mostly clearing & reweeding the front area as more things try and sprout up. I helped a bunch with that, but also did some more work clearing out front side yard, as we ultimately need to get these foxtails all out of here or they'll just keep springing back up.
It's slow progress, but we've filled three large trash cans (greens cans, really), which means that we've taken a pretty enormous amount of weedage away.
Unfortunately our mock strawberries, ultimately meant to replace these foxtails, stubbornly refuse to sprout. Kimberly has just started watering them a lot more than she was originally. We'll see if the deluge does any better than the original watering.
Also did some review writing this weekend, including all of a Barbarossa review (already queued up for Wednesday) and some of a Bone Wars review. I'm planning to also review Memoir '44: Eastern Front, for a total of three reviews this week (whew).
And Kimberly and I also watched a bunch of Battlestar Galactica (season 1) and otherwise had a good time together.
Overall a good weekend, a fulfilling weekend, and a fun weekend.
Got a bunch more I'd like to do tonight (do a bit of programming on RPGnet, finish my Bone Wars review, finish Anansi Boys, finish writing Thursday's blog, watch ep 1.11 of Battlestar Galactica) but there isn't enough time for it all.
Alas.
Monday approaches.
