Lost Sunday
Oct. 10th, 2005 10:21 amAnd sadly not meaning Lost in a good way, re: the popular (and enjoyable) TV show.
I woke up at 6.30a feeling ill, which wasn't a great start to the day. I made it back to bed at 7.30a or so, but didn't get any good sleep after that.
After various screwing around in the morning, lunching, and watching television (1.9 or Deadwood), I eventually took a nap which encompassed much of the afternoon.
Kimberly was feeling sick on Sunday--a sore threat, achey muscles, and all the rest that come with bad bugs--so I was also leary of either making myself vulnerable to that bug or else giving it ascendency if she'd already hit me with contagion.
So, bottom line, not much got done on Sunday, and definitely no weeding. Heck, the only time I made it out of the house was shortly after my nap when I stumbled to the corner store to get Kimberly some ice cream for her throat. (It was apparently quite helpful.)
We watched Deadwood up through 1.10 and it continues to be an enjoyable show. It's even more character driven than most of the HBO dramas, and so can be a little slow, but is still very enjoyable, and the period-pieceness of it is particularly evocative and enjoyable. (I've seen some people complain about the Shakespearian-like dialogue of most of the characters, but it just delights me because it evokes an older, more proper time, whether that was actually factually correct or not.)
I watched Enterprise 2.8 which was another enjoyable romp. The show really doesn't do anything innovative, but it's got solid writing that makes even the obvious episodes fun to watch.
And that resulted in 2 DVDs going into the mailbox. We sometimes time our DVD watching to end discs at opportune times, though I'm actually not convinced that mail is being picked up today, it beingColumbusIndigenous Peoples Day and all.
And I did get other, less active stuff done. Got one of my stock accounts into better order. Caught up on the checkbook. Paid bills. Did some work on reviews so that I can have my two ready for Wednesday.
Just not everything I'd hoped.
And now we're up to Monday, though it's a pseudo-holiday Monday so I'll probably do some fun programming after I've caught up with things, as I tend to on pseudo-holiday Mondays.
