While out collecting the mail today, Kimberly & I came across another free bookshelf. This one was particle board, of course, but fairly nice. About six-and-a-half foot tall and two-and-a-half foot wide. It was helpfully two blocks from our home, just like the last one, and a good thing it wasn't any further, as it was some darned hard work to get it home those two blocks.

On the way home one cute young college girl tried to talk me out of it. I explained a few times that I was taking it home, not giving it away. She finally moved on, skateboard under her arm. I took the "free" sign off the bookcase after that. A young college lad offered to help carry it when I was about 100 feet from the house. I declined since I was just about there. He was probably going to try and run away with it in any case, since it was clearly a very desirable bookcase. He wouldn't have gotten far; it was heavy.

I'd imagined a few different closet locations for this bookcase. (The last one has worked out *great*.) but none are quite tall enough, nor do I have enough width in most of the places I'd like to locate it. However I think it'll go well in my dining room where there's currently a table that I stack games-to-play atop. It'll probably look nicer too. It's going to displace a painting and (probably) my electronic keyboard too, so there will be a bit of rearranging needed. I'm not sure quite where the keyboard will go, though it's a slightly moot point because it rarely gets played.
