Exhausting Day (& Worse Tragedies)

Slept badly last night. Had insomnia and couldn't get to bed until about 3am (the danger of working late on game design) and then I was up feeling sick at about 9am. Bleh. I've been feeling sick on and off all day, and exhausted as a result.
Talked to mother this afternoon for the first time in ages. I learned that my Uncle Darrell had fallen ill in the last week and is now in the process of dying. He's just 46 or 48, but his liver/kidney/who-knows-what-else is all giving out at once. At this point he's apparently going to die without dialysis, but the doctors say that starting dialysis will kill him, so everyone's just waiting for him to die. He's been in a coma since Friday.
Apparently Darrell had ended up a loner in the last few years, since his wife left him, then his one remaining child at home took off. I get the impression he's been chronically depressed for a while, though my mom didn't like that phrase. He's probably been sick for a while with no one noticing.
Why his whole system is giving out at such a young age is a bit of a mystery. My missionary Uncle Dale says it's the drink (beer), while my mom says it's 20 years of doing landscaping work and inhaling who-knows-what chemicals.
In any ways, he wasn't expected to live through Saturday night.
I barely know him, as he was in the military when I was visiting St. Louis when I was younger, but it's still sad.
Learned that it's just a $60 AmTrak trip from Indianopolis to St. Louis, but a brutal 14 hours trip. It seems like I should try and swing by St. Louis to offer my condolences to my grand parents when I'm going to be just 250 miles away in a week and a half, but I'm not sure of a good way currently, with tickets all booked already.
Nonetheless I've been continuing my CCG work. It has to be done, with just a week and a half to go. I've got all of my clean up done, with consistent text & power levels now appearing on all the cards. I've also been plodding along finishing up the decks. At this point I have 92/100 cards for my two decks.
I'd hoped at first to be testing things out today, then later I was hoping to be laying things out today, so at this point I'm probably 2 days behind my original schedule. But my schedule was fanatically rabid, so I still feel like I'm doing OK.
I'll have the cards all laid out and printed either tomorrow night or Tuesday night, then I'll have a week to futz with things before GenCon. Wednesday & Saturday night gaming are both up in the air, however, as a result of things running a bit behind.
