Since my dad hasn't been feeling well, we opted to have a lazy day. We still went to Wal-mart before lunch, a very Hawaiian excursion there. My dad got cough drops, Kimberly got coffee for a friend, and I got a Hawaiian shirt (as I'd recently had to kill one of my favorites because it was splitting at some of its seams).
After that lunch, some reading, an obligatory afternoon nap, and more reading.
To see a bit of genuine Hawaiian outside, Kimberly and I went for a walk before dinner. There's a coffee plantation nearby, and we walked down to that and along its border for a while. There were numerous nice views of the sea below which I enjoyed.
We finally got around to exchanging Christmas presents in the evening. Afterward, my dad and I watched the first episode of Star Trek: TOS. (We'd given him the first season.) That's _The Man Trap_, if you go by broadcast order, which is the-episode-with-the-salt-vampire. I was really surprised how well it's held up. I think sometime since I've last seen TOS, it went from being camp to being nicely iconic of its period.
This was also the remastered edition, and I wasn't expecting to like the new CGI they'd done, but they were pretty subtle and respectful of the original, so I actually thought it was well done (and the entire print held up on the huge tv here).
This may have been the first day I've ever been in Hawaii, other than travel days, that I did not swim. But I knew there would be less swimming due to Dad's illness, which is fine.
Overall, it felt exceedingly lazy, as there was much staying around the house, and exceedingly lazy is nice.
