Garage Work Continues
Dec. 7th, 2010 11:47 amSo, we've had a few more days of garage work now.
Friday morning our contractors showed up and started building a gadget which would allow them to pour concrete down into the area they'd prepared. At some point the inspector showed up, OKed everything, and away they went.
The rest of the day seemed to be spent smoothing the concrete out and removing excess. At day's end, they covered everything up to protect from the rain they've been dodging the whole time.
Monday they were back out and they revealed the results of the concrete work, which resulted in a nice foundation and low wall, wrapping under the house as a pylon there (which should have been done when the garage was built N years ago). It all looks quite good.

The one downside is that they ended up opting out of the possibility of a wider garage which our architect had considered. If anything, the new garage is a bit less wide because the new wall is ever slightly larger than the old one. Not a big deal for us. We're going to soon have nice storage. Less useful for regular car parking down the road, as it's pretty tight for most cars.
Also on Monday, our builders removed the back part of the roof, then filled another dumpster, largely cleaning out the area of wood and cement debris. Yay!
Framing of the new garage should start tomorrow.
