I've been sitting at my desk this morning dealing with email, occasionally kicking off a query that I've been meaning to send for months. I've also been thinking about scuttling over to my Windows machine to deal with some accounting, since there are some bills to be paid before the end of the year.
That may sound normative, but it's actually unusually & curiously freeing. It used to be my Monday routine, as I spent much of the day catching up with things that I might have let go on the weekend or over the previous week.
Until the book.
This is the first Monday that I haven't had iPhone in Action on my desk. It went off to the printer last Monday afternoon. And so, I suddenly have time for the minutia of work again.
Mind you, there's still stuff to be done. I have an 3,000-word article on iPhone gestures that is due next Tuesday or Wednesday. I also have to write up 7 article proposals. Christopher would like me to work through a few comic book scripts if time allows. But I have 7 or 8 days to take care of that all!
So, it's practically a snow day for me.
(And, if being able to take care of the minutia of work counts for me as a snow day, that just confirms that I've been working too hard in 2008 ... but I have a week off scheduled over the holidays, and another week down at the bottom of January.)
