Card Game Writing
Jul. 12th, 2006 10:21 pmI didn't go to EndGame today, because it's been such a busy week, and I figured I had plenty of gaming already between that playtest on Monday, review gaming tomorrow, and the all-day RPGnet minicon on Saturday. So I stayed home, and I was determined to get some work in on my July writing projects, which have been sitting quietly about since I wrote up my plans for writing this month.
After hemming and hawing between my next Knucklebones article and work on the never-ending elf-book, I decided the former. It's an article on card games, and I did some initial work on it a full three-and-a-half months ago, before two of my articles got swapped around. Today I decided to get a few more quotes, and I also did quite a bit of writing.
The speed of the Internet again astounds me. Both of the publishers I mailed to had mailed me back before I knocked off work for the evening.
Beyond that, the writing is going well. I've got about a thousand words in place, which is half the article. I'm going to need to revise them and shift things around, I can tell, but it's a good start. The biggest problem, actually, is that it's going to be WAY over my target word count when I'm done. I'm just going to let it overflow for now, and I figure I can cut it and put the cutting in Gone Gaming or split it into two articles when I'm all done.
I think I'm done with that for the night, but I was pleased to get some work in.
Now I need to get the elf-book going too this week, if I want to have any chance of making a dent in it this month. Maybe Friday evening, after delicious sushi with Mike & Katherine.
