Stormbringer #10
Sep. 17th, 2005 08:07 pmToday was a rarity. RP gaming at my house. This used to happen all the time. For years. But due to various conjunctions of the million spheres I eventually game it up out of consideration for Kimberly's feelings, and for the last while most of our daytime RPing has been going on at Donald's house instead.
But this week Donald was unavailable. Not necessarily out of town, mind you, just unavailable. Because his parents are in town. Planning to clean his house and maybe help him buy some furniture. So we were at my place instead today.
Unfortunately, due to another conjunction of the million spheres, or at least the half-dozen home games, Cal football was going on today and parking was a wreck. Or so the gamers said as they slowly streamed in, each quite late (by their own criteria).
I was not in top form for gaming today. (I wasn't in top form my last game either, which is disturbing.) But I ran what was game #10 of my Stormbringer campaign. I never really got to the adventure, but at least I have a strong setup for the next run.
The adventurers (led by Dave) spent a good hour or more buying bar accouterments (including a monkey) and selling antiques. Later in the session they spent over an hour arguing the terms of a loan, before finally tossing it all out. Somewhere in the middle I got them to the location of their new adventure and had some thugs attack the bar. And that was pretty much the adventure.
The transit to the new adventure was amusing. After getting the magical Mast of Balance in the previous adventure, they inexplicably decided to mount it in the bar. With them already being servants of the Balance I decided to use this opportunity for mischief. And so with their presence needed in a far distant country, the bar more or less sailed itself there overnight, and so they awoke to find themselves in a new city, with everyone feeling like they'd always been there. A cool effect to get the players around as long as they keep that Mast up.
Of course Dave started calling it the BARDIS.
