Saturday Gaming

Every Saturday I invite a group of friends over to game. It's been a ritual for 13 years now, though back in the furthest depths of time, we actually played on the Berkeley campus. However, when I got my first actual apartment, around 1994 or so, we were all won over by the luxuries of in-house refrigerator, microwave, and a bathroom that was closer than a quarter of a mile. Not having to lug twenty pounds of books back and forth from campus was also a plus.

Gaming takes up about 8 hours for me every Saturday, plus another hour cleaning up beforehand and afterward. It's nice getting to see some of my closest friends every week, but also cuts my weekend down to one day of real freedom. So, most of the time it's really fun, sometimes it's a bit draining, but it's really, really nice to have stayed in such close contact with a group of people that I first met back in college.


kimberly_nlts recently pointed me to a very cool What D&D Character Are You? quiz. I say "very cool" not just because of the subject material, but also because, unlike most quizzes on the Internet, it's well written. It seems to give each answer multiple weights toward multiple results and thus is much more meaningful than the quizzes on quizilla which require a one-per-one correlation between each answer and result.

Anyway, I passed the quiz around to my gaming group, and everyone who's in town right now took it. Here's the result of what our "adventuring" party looks like:

We came into possession of a very large lizard, you see, and so DS came up with the obvious idea of building huge platforms on its back and head so that we could ride around our desert world in luxury.

They're creative folks and good folks. I think I like them.

I've gotta say ... I *love* the lizard's face. Has DS ever *seen* a lizard?

I did keep asking where we were going to get the huge, furless cat, and what this had to do with our giant lizard.
