It's been raining today, going back and forth between pouring rain and just rain. Sometimes I do get a bit SAD from an elongated period of rain & gloominess, but right now I'm enjoying it.

With my new office setup, and my desk facing the window, a gloomy day is one of the few days that I can open both the blinds all the way up & have some nice scenery to look at when I glance away from the computer for a second.

Speaking of office setup, much of the office is still a wreck, with a couple of piles of crap scattered around, but this afternoon I cleared the pile of things to do which was previously on my desk, then moved to my chair. This was work-related stuff which had been a growing mound for two years. Hooray!

Munchkin is very happy about the cleared chair, which she is now sleeping on.

Kimberly just wandered in and sat there too.

I just got word back that my second (and final) eBay package from my recent sale had arrived and the purchaser was very happy. I really wasn't too worried this time because they were both sent insured, at the purchasers' requests, due to the high price of the items.

eBay, amusingly, sent me mail congratulating me on receiving my 25th feedback, and noting that I'm halfway to my blue star.

Oh my god, I'm so excited.

The money is largely spent already.

About a third of it was my mad money on Sunday, which went to a few games, a few comics, lunch, dinner, and some remaining cash in my wallet.

Most of the rest went to a huge order of German-language games (which won't go out until they get a few out-of-stock items in on a slow boat). It's got some things that I've been wanting to get for over a year, including Wallenstein, the Alhambra supplements, and Iglu, Iglu.

Oh, and I bought the computer version of Carcassonne: Hunters & Gatherers. It's a totally professional, well-done implementation that went for the ridiculous fee of 8 Euros. Ha! The same company has an El Grande that I'm looking at too, though that's much pricier at 18 Euros (ha!). I think I'm going to enjoy the H&G for a while first though.

Speaking of lunch on Sunday, I was amazed how ridulously badly run the Burger King near End Game is. I've commented before about how quickly cities get run-down when you walk away from their convention centers.

Oakland is no exception.

The convention center is between 10th & 11th at Broadway, I believe. (EndGame is at 10th.) The Burger King, meanwhile, is on 13th at Broadway. In those two blocks you go from gourmet ghetto to the edges of the inner city.

Amazing.

The Burger King was dim & cave-like, despite the huge windows. It was filled with homeless people, chatting with the security guard. The management doesn't seem to care how their customers form lines & the scant staff clearly haven't been trained in interacting with humans. The guy at the register I was at would take an order, then randomly wander off for several moments.

I had the Western Angus Burger as seen on the Apprentice. It actually tasted like a grilled burger, not fast food. Amazing.

It was no Western Bacon Cheeseburger from Carl's Jr., though, no matter how much it wanted to be.

Feeling pretty relaxed today.

I should put on The Doors later; I love hearing Riders on the Storm against the backdrop of rain.
