Played games this weekend, got stuff done.

The gaming was, of course, Eric's ErzoQuest. Eric arrived late and left early, something that's going to be happening increasingly much as his & Barb's departure date closes in, unfortunately.

We spent about half of the shortened session refiguring our POWer spreadsheet from last week, and the other half doing a Warhamster battle. No real roleplaying in our theoretical roleplaying game, but fun nonetheless. Unfortunately, it looks like the next Erzo game is going to be February 26th, due to various things Eric has going on, then DunDraCon.

I'm planning to go to an EndGame Sunday on February 13th; hopefully I can convince folks to do something besides just their late night BattleTech on one of the Saturdays between now and then, else it'll be a very scarce gaming month.

Because of the shortness of Rowe on Saturday, our RPG group played a few longer board games than we typically get to.

I brought Tongiaki, because it's a game that everyone but Eric likes, and so we never play it. It was fun and largely random, as usual.

Afterward we got to play Puerto Rico, which I enjoy playing with that group because there are no grognards telling you how you played wrong because they're, of course, the masters of the subject. Pfah. Some folks need to look up the definition of the word "game". Or perhaps "fun". This was fun though I managed a last-place finish. I'd just gotten my economy really working on the last couple of rounds. If the game had lasted another couple of rounds, I might well have won, and would definitely have improved my position.

Close game though: 41/41/42/42/45.

Sunday I partially lazed around, but also got a few things accomplished, including:
  • Game Closet Cleaned. Our dining room closet has a small shelf in it which has slowly accumulated games, and become a bit of a mess. I reorganized it all, and things look much neater. In the process I added one game to my GoodWill pile (Chekov) and two to my trade list (Spammers, History's Mysteries). I didn't even know some of the stuff was in there, which isn't that much of a surprise given there are games scattered across at least 4 rooms of the house (my office, sun room, junk room, dining room).
  • Bills Paid. Fun, fun, fun. Something I try and do once or twice a month.
  • Mutual Funds Sold. Finally, since it's been about a year since I did my last big batch of mutual fund purchases in my IRA, I can now sell the no-load funds without penalty, and so I took a look at them. Overall, not bad. About 12.5% gain for the year; not nearly as much as when I paid really close attention to my finances, but good for not paying much attention. I sold off a couple of underperforming funds, and sometime in the next week should reinvest that money.
  • Tax Sorting Begun. I started sorting all of my files for taxes. I think I have much of what I need, other than the K-1 form for the family trust, which always comes very late. I was going to pick up the new TurboTax over the weekend, but then remembered that the MAC store is always closed on Sunday. Idiots. In any case, I plan to get going on this as soon as I can, since I have no idea what the taxes look like, with the house and all, and need to see if my educated guesses about how much money I needed to save are right or not.

Shouldn't you sell overperforming funds?
