Somtimes I feel like life is just work punctuated by gaming and occasional sleep.
Today
kimberly_a and I had
kjf and
michaelarick over. We'd been planning to get together since various mutual birthdays in recent months, but hadn't managed it (though Michael is actually here on most Thursdays). So, we decided to get together for chat, dinner, and gaming.
The chat was chat.
The dinner was fine Chinese food.
The game was Alhambra, mostly because Katherine & Michael picked it up and started commenting on how pretty it looked (and because I knew Kimberly would be thrilled to play, since she has to my surprise taken to this new game--the first time that's happened in months).
It's a good game that I've enjoyed a lot since I got it. It's got a unique purchase mechanism for tiles which you then place on your personal palace of Alhambra within a few constraints, and then things are scored based on majority control of various types of buildings. It reminds me of another 2-player favorite, Zoosim. Mostly, Kimberly & I have played two-player; this was our first four-player foray.
Anyway, the game was fun. I won, though if I hadn't gotten a final-turn draw of a tile I'd been waiting for, I think Katherine would have won instead.
Good game, good food, good company.
Good night.
