Well, after three weeks of trying, Kimberly and I finally got a kitten yesterday. It was one of the cats she'd rejected last week, a little darling of a cat, all black, that's one of the most affectionate things that I've seen.

The existing cats are, unfortunately, not adjusting well. Cobweb seems unsure of whether she should be upset or not, while Munchkin is freaking out every time she remembers there's a kitten in the house, with her typical hiss-at-the-sister, hiss-at-the-walls, hiss-at-everything snit.

We're doing what people recommend. We're keeping the kitten isolated, switching her off between my office and Kimberly's, while the cats hopefully get accustomed to her scent. I've also been doing positive reinforcement: letting the cats sniff kitten on my hands, then petting them, or feeding them cat treats near the office door.

I think Cobweb will be OK, but I'm worried about Munchkin, because she's just not the brightest bulb in the box (though we love her anyway).

I've been writing throughout the weekend, as usual. Friday and Saturday afternoon (after gaming) I wrote Columbia Games, today I wrote Guardians of Order. That leaves me with five left. I also need to finish my final iteration of TSR, then mail it off to my publisher as my first deliverable. I've got some copy edits from Kimberly and some fact checks from a collector.

I'd been planning to take a week off soon (to write), but because of various scheduling issues, it suddenly ended up being this coming week, first is quicker than I'd expected. So next week I'm going to spend the 40 hours that I'd usually spend working for Skotos instead editing. That'll hopefully get me up through the next major section after TSR, and into the one after that.

I also need to continue my normal new article creation which I'd typically do after work. That should be new articles on Monday and Tuesday, maybe a new article on Wednesday, and then finishing up my final five by the end of the weekend, leaving me July for editing and to get started on the pictorial part of the book.

As ever, whew.

I'm looking forward to kicking back and playing some video games in September.
