Another Stressful Day
Feb. 12th, 2012 01:17 amBoth Kimberly & I ended up bailing from our normal Saturday plans today, because we wanted to hang out with our ailing cat, Cobweb. It was a good thing we did, because we decided that the right thing to do was to talk more with a vet and eventually bring her in, as she now has barely eaten for 4 days or so, which means she could be looking at serious liver problems at any point now.
The animal hospital was on emergency/weekend schedules, so we ended up sitting there for maybe a couple of hours total. We finally talked with yet another nice vet. She gave Cobweb a big anti-nausea shot, with the hope it might do something, and told us to give her some boiled chicken, which we're going to try and do tomorrow. I honestly don't have much hope with the boiled chicken, given that she's turning her nose up at things with actual flavor, but I'd love to be proven wrong.
In any case, the doc suggest something we hadn't even considered: that her new appetite problems might be a result of the inflamed bowels that started troubling her 2.5 years ago instead of the kidney problems which she started being treated for 10 months ago. (Poor cat!) She did feel Cobweb's intestines, and said she couldn't feel anything wrong (which wasn't the case 2.5 years ago), but that an ultrasound would be needed to find out for sure.
We got her to lick up some gravy tonight, which is more than she's been doing, but not a lot. If we don't see improvement tomorrow, then it's back to the vet on Monday for a new test. At least that does offer up hope of a possible solution, as the doc said we may need to readjust her drugs for her intestines if what she has has stopped working well.
But for now, and probably through at least Monday ... stress.
Some serious problems at Skotos too, that I had to deal with in the wee hours of the morning (and will need some more work Monday). When it rains, it pours.
