A Busy Cleaning Evening
Jun. 21st, 2011 11:27 pmSpent a busy evening cleaning up my office. My main desk is cleaned up tremendously and much of what was on the floor went into a closet. More notably, I cleared my secondary desk, which was the home of my Windows computer, after transferring my last few financia files off of said computer and onto my Mac. The Windows machine has been moved to storage, until I work with all my files enough to be comfortable that I've got everything working well. (Honestly, my financial files have been a mess for years, since I moved them off my old Mac, onto that Windows machine; maybe I'll have more energy to get them into shape now that they're on the computer I regularly use.)
Long term, I'm trying to figure out what to do with the space that secondary desk occupies. I'm not sure I really need a second desk in my office and it'd be nice to make better use of the area. A bench, a small loveseat, some bookshelves, or something else would be nice. But, that's a problem for another day.
The purpose of all this cleaning was to get things ready for the installation of the windows, which begins tomorrow. I'm very excited, as I've had crappy windows in that office that don't have screens and don't close right (or open right) for as long as I've had the office.
In further preparation I've retreated into the family room, with my Mac set up on a card table here. I've also got food, water, and litter for the cats in the room, so when workers are coming and going tomorrow, we can just lock us up in the room, and have no worries that any cat is going to get away.
My computer setup isn't ideal, and the cat's will surely get antsy tomorrow, but it'll only be a day or two.
