Pre-Trip Stress
Jan. 25th, 2010 12:13 amI'm a bit stressed out about our upcoming trip to Hawaii. It's pretty freefloating stress, but I think it's got a couple of causes.
#1 is probably our move at Skotos into iPhone apps. We got Money out last Wednesday, and I left almost a week after release to make sure I had time to catch any big problems if they came up (thankfully not), but it still feels like I'm leaving in the middle of things. I'd like to just get on to either programming High Society (our next game) or working on improving the AI in Money, which has been the biggest request (and which I'm hoping to do for a Feb. 28 release).
#2 is Cobweb. She's been doing great for months now. She's up 1.5 pounds. But she's still being fed twice a day. We've got people to cover that (thanks in large part to our holiday sitting of Caruso), but the fact that she's still in an unusual state suggests that things could go suddenly, terribly wrong--whether that's true or not. Poor kit seems to have gotten a cold as well, these last couple of days. I'm sure she'll be fine, but she was doing so poorly last summer/fall that it's still a little hard to believe that she'll be OK for a week straight.
#3 is that I've been feeling on-and-off sickly these last few days. I'm hoping it's nothing or something that will pass easily, because I'd be annoyed to be sick in Hawaii again, but whatever happens will happen; I shouldn't stress about.
Now the good thing is that since my Dad and Mary moved to Hawaii, it's actually encouraged us to vacation on a yearly basis, and y'know, get away from these stressors for a time, and that's a very good thing.
I'll just be happier when I'm on a plane. I've got a pile of books, comics, and RPGs, which I've been collecting for 1-2 months, and they should make the plane rides as enjoyable as possible. I'm looking forward to reading many of them. And Hawaii should be as terrific as ever.
