DSL Upgrade
Jul. 20th, 2009 04:01 pmI chanced to be looking at the web site of my DSL provider last week. I'm not even sure why, perhaps just because I've been feeling uppity about utilities lately. (Screw you, Comcast.) Anyway, in digging through their rates, I discovered not only that we were getting a considerably lower throughput rate than is being offered now for the package that we're subscribed too, but also that they offer an identically priced package that gives even better numbers. We're talking 1500/128 -> 6000/768, or something like that.
So I asked Kimberly to give them a call and today she did, and in 3-5 days we should be getting 4x the downlink and 6x the uplink at no extra cost and with no interruption in service.
It certainly sounded like her conversation went better than, you know, every single conversation we had with a Comcast rep. We'll see how the results look.
And the lesson? Make sure your data plans are still up to spec every 2 or 5 years if you're tending to stay with the same ones (and I'm not sure I would have even thought about changing ours if
andrewducker [I think] hadn't talked about doing something similar with a cell phone plan in the last couple of months).
