Gaming Interruptus
Jun. 9th, 2006 11:01 amEven more disappointing then playing a good-sounding game that turns out to be bad is putting a good-sounding game on the table and discovering it's incomplete.
That was gaming last night. Christopher had recently picked up a new copy of _Heroes Incorporated_ and as we laid out the 25-block city we discovered that he'd received a duplicate of one 9-block city tile sheet and had thus not gotten another. We could have played it. We technically had a complete set of parts, just not the complete set of parts, but we were afraid it might be entirely unbalanced, and we didn't want our first game to be tainted.
So, it got put back away. Christopher will try and get a replacement sheet and we'll play it for real some other time when we only have four players.
Instead we played my new acquisition, Winner's Circle, which I picked up at Endgame on Wednesday. It's a bidding, bluffing, and movement horse racing game, and much fun was had by all.
Speaking of EndGame, if you're anywhere in the Bay Area, set aside time on July 15th. There's going to be a 10am-11pm gaming minicon at EndGame. It's roleplaying-oriented, and you can sign up for a roleplaying game (for a very small fee). However, there's also going to be tables for board and card games.
