Very tired. I started conking out before 8pm this evening. I'm sick of being low energy lately.

Got up this morning and headed off to Comic Relief's backroom sale, prior to gaming. I was expecting more really old back issues and such, as I know used to be at their old warehouse, but instead it was mostly overstock. There was a ton of stuff that I would have bought if I'd had money, but none of it enthused me enough to use my scant current funds.

So, instead I bought JSA, volume 10, which was new out this week.

It was interesting to see the sporadic ovstocks that Comic Relief had. Going through their single issue bins I'd come across a Spider-Man section, for example, and see 3 or 4 issues over a one or two year period that they had 7 or 8 copies of. Weird, but probably due to seasonal fluctuations leaving them with a little too much of those particular ones.

I spent about 10-15 minutes browsing, and I heard their cash register constantly going, which made me happy, knowing that Rory was selling off stuff that he had too much of, and that customers were pleased by their deals.

I then walked from University to Ashby. I'm amused that once upon a time I used to take BART from one to the other. Today, instead, I was trying to walk it slow because I knew it was a tiny distance, and I didn't want to show up at Donald's too early.

Because I was running a bit early to gaming I browsed through the Ashby flea market for a few minutes when I got down there. It's been in the headlines lately because it's likely to get bumped when some transit housing gets built over the Ashby BART parking lot.

Last time I was there it was full of Asian toys and other cheap crap. That was probably a few years ago. Now it's changed in character quite a bit, and is full of people selling African goods. There was also people playing African drums the whole time. I heard them when I browsed, and I later heard them when I was headed home five or six hours later.

Still, as with the last time, there was nothing I was the least bit interested in. I remember when I used to go to flea markets and could find boxes and boxes of comics to browse through (as, oddly, I'd done earlier in the day).

I got to Donald's a few minutes after 1. Kevin was already there, and we started setting up Arkham Horror while waiting for Dave W. to arrive.

This was my first time playing the new Arkham Horror (though it has my name in it for development). I was generally pleased with the game and enjoyed it more than I expected. There is a lot of carryover from the original edition, but there are also notable changes, almost all for the better. And, FFG's superb graphics make an evocative game that much more evocative. I enjoyed this new edition much more than my plays of the original game.

We beat Nyarlathotep, just barely. We got too many gates open, and thus had to fight the big bad. Fortunately Kevin and I had piles of clue tokens. Though Donald's character was immediately devoured, and Dave W's shortly followed suit, Kevin and I finished off the big N just before he was eaten too.

Afterward we played Formula De, a Donald favorite. He's now got the first ten maps, and we tried out #10. We played two laps, which I've decided is the ideal. We generally had fun though Dave W. got pissy with the game, crashed his car, and then tried out Donald's Dungeons & Dragons Online while the rest of us finished.

I did some great, strategic, proactive driving and beat everyone by one or more turns, even despite a bad roll near the end (else I would have been two turns out).

Between gaming Thursday and today I've snapped pictures & taken notes on five different games, and I now need to decide what to review. I have Intrigue and Family Business both scheduled, because they're review copies, as well as a book called Dark Menace of the Universe. However, I've also got possible reviews of Alexandros, Arkham Horror, and a revision of my ancient Formula De review. However, it looks like there will be no review gaming on this next Thursday, so I could well do those six reviews over the next two weeks if I feel like it.

Not sure what I'll be doing tomorrow. Kim and I already did grocery shopping because I was too tired to really think this evening. So I've got the day free. Besides my reviews I've also got a ton of other potential writing projects, as usual.

I should really start kicking into the ones with the closest due dates: elves for The World of Gloratha and the first Knucklebones article. (Both even *paying* projects. Yay!)
