Stormbringer #14
Feb. 25th, 2006 11:37 pmToday it was finally back to the Stormbringer RPG. I thought I'd run it in December, but looking back in my journal it turns out that the last run was around Halloween. I don't know quite what we did with our RPG days from there until I went to Hawaii last year.
In any case, we'd been at a natural stopping point last time around, and I decided to treat it as a chapter break. We mirrored the four months off in the real-world with three months off in the gameworld, and then I started the next sequence of adventures.
The bar has returned to its natural place in Menii, and now the adventurers are off on a new quest to the Northern Continent, to find the items necessary to reverse a curse placed upon the lady love of their newfound bard ally. It's the other adventure from Fate of Fools. I'm also seeding the adventure with hints of an adventure from Sailing on the Seas of Fate and personal plots related to Dave P., Eric F., and Dave W. (I don't quite know what shape these plots are taking yet, but I know enough to start dropping hints).
I'm overall figuring that this is going to be another 4-8 session chapter in the overall campaign. Interweaving those two printed adventures and those three personal plots should create for a deep and fulfilling set of interconnections. (Plus whatever other craziness the adventurers get involved in, of course.)
My idea with this campaign has always been to run as much as I can from books, but I'm discovering now that there's not a huge amount of material for Stormbringer 5/Elric!. After this particular segment I'll have used everything but Melnibone and The Unknown East. I've used little bits of stuff from Stormbringer 4 and earlier editions, but the stats are all wrong and the theming often isn't right either. I'll have to decide more what to do with that when chapter 4 of the campaign comes along, I suppose. One of my options is to try and track down more issues of the Elric zine, Herald of Doom. I've got issues #1 & #8, so at least 8 exist.
For now I need to make a project to enter into the RPGnet Wiki quick info on all the extant adventures to see what other planning I can manage.
Anyway, #15 is in two weeks. I should discover a little bit more about my subplots that I'm interweaving by then, to give them some meaningful pushes.
