The Start of Holiday
Nov. 25th, 2005 03:58 pmDay One
Posted my holiday special Gone Gaming blog entry and was pleased to actually get a few fun responses to it.
I don't actually take many holidays & when I do I really try and take the holidaying seriously, zone out, and otherwise relax. Thus I'd chosen an eminently multi-watchable DVD to check out form netflix: The Amazing Race, Season One. Kimberly & I watched the first two discs, which was six episodes total. Fun show, and amazingly relaxing.
We also made our white-trash Thanksgiving dinner: ham in a bag, turkey gravy in tupperware, chicken stuffing in a box, crescent rolls in a vacuum-packed tube, frozen green beans in a bag, and frozen mashed potatoes in a tub. It was very good. We don't usually have that much food, let alone that much prepared food. Mmm.
There were two games of Memoir '44 too. Kimberly & I always play each battle twice, once from each side, but we rarely do that in the same day. Yesterday we did, and it was luxurious to just lock up the dining room after our first game, leaving the whole board setup, and then not having to set everything up the second time.
There were two fires in the fireplace too, while we were spending all that time in the Living Room, watching TV and eating. We're just about out of firewood now.
Day Two
Woke up early this morning, at least early by holiday standards, and eventually headed out to Comic Relief for their after Thanksgiving sale. I bought a pile of graphic novels. I've gotten so far behind in the last year since our money situation racheted tight even further than even the 7(!) books I got today didn't catch me up. But, it was nice to be able to do.
Then I had the day-after-Thanksgiving white-trash lunch at McDonalds. They were surprisingly very busy.
Afterward, because it was such a nice day, with the sun just coming out after afternoon rains, I got a bug in my bonnet to ride up to Target and maybe get a new computer game to play over the rest of the weekend. "New" by the definition of me never having played it before, because actual new games don't run on any of my computers anymore.
Anyway, about a 15-mile bike trip round trip. Not a bad bit of exercise. I picked up Roller Coaster Tycoon Deluxe, which I suspect I'll enjoy.
Still trying to figure out what's going on tomorrow. There may be gaming at my house, or if I hear there's not going to be gaming early enough (e.g., tonight), then I can make plans with Chris to see Harry Potter with him and Maire.
