Onward & Upward
Aug. 11th, 2005 12:10 amFinally got two decks of cards printed out for my new CCG. Kimberly & I tried to play a game, but she was too tired to be able to fully understand the rules or make decisions, so we gave up part way in. Overall, we played enough to highlight some flaws in the system, but also to show that there's a good basis for gameplay. Hard decisions, annoyances at card draws, and all the other things you want in a card game.
I have some concerns about complexity and about table space. Ultimately these could well be a personal decision as to what a publisher wants in a game, but if there are ways to ease them I should try and figure them out.
Current goals are to play the game more, and with more people, and to write up the rules proper. Oh, and to start massaging the rules based on what gameplay has already shown.
The new book case is now installed in the Dining Room and loaded up with games. I'm very happy, because I have lots of space for games and comics again.
I'm less happy because I now have a few free-floating pieces of furniture with no place to put them.
I feel like there's a ton to do before GenCon, both for work, and in polishing up this game. Hopefully I'll take a large chunk out of the work side of that tomorrow, when it's going to be my top priority.
