I was woken early this morning by a thundering crash. Then I heard it again. And again. As I struggled up to consciousness my first thought was that someone was breaking down our front door.

Donning my robe, I stumbled down the stairs, and discovered that the source of the earth-shattering crashes was none other than Cobweb, standing atop the Cat Tree and throwing herself as hard as she could at the garage-level window, trying to ward off the evil Ghost Cat (standing outside, looking confused).

I grabbed the cat (our cat that is), stumbled back upstairs, tossed her into the bedroom, then crashed back into bed myself.

Thirty minutes later, more earth-shattering crashes, and the discovery that Cobweb had indeed left our comfy bed. This time both of the cats were coaxed into the bedroom, then the door was closed, with them inside, far from tempting windows.

Several more hours of sleep were had at this point, albeit broken every 30-60 minutes by cats scrabbling at the bottom of the door, trying to get out. They've never figured out that they don't have opposable thumbs.

Later in the morning, when I finally decided to arise for real I discovered the window sill at the garage window covered with plaster and paint, clear evidence of the violence implicit in the system.

Yesterday was the start of Dave P's Rolemaster Pirates campaign, the other new RPG campaign now that Eric R. is gone. The start was a bit bumpy because Dave had decided that the character creation system was too complex and we should use an online spreadsheet instead. Unfortunately the spreadsheet was insanely complex, incorporating every skill ever, and it took at least an hour for each person to create their character--and there was only one computer.

I think we would have done better if we'd created the characters by hand, but it was Dave's call. I left at about 6.15p and there were still two characters to go. Theoretically we'll start this campaign in two weeks.

I'm not sure how thrilled I am about the campaign, mainly because of certain players wanting to be eeee-vil pirates, but we'll see. Dave has run some fun campaigns in the past.
