The End of Erzo
Mar. 13th, 2005 12:37 pmYesterday Eric ran our final Erzo session ever. He ended the campaign on a 9-hour final confrontation between Us and Them. Us persevered, though the outcome was in doubt for most of the time.
Afterward, Eric brought out some champagne, and we drank and talked a little, and that was more rewarding than the game itself.
I've known Eric was 16 years, almost half my life. Neither of us is great about really reaching out to get together with friends, but whenever our lives really intersected--when we lived next to each other down on University, when we worked together at Chaosium, and when he stayed with Kimberly and me for a couple of months following his relationship with Sonia--he and I really clicked, and we could just sit and talk with ease.
We're all going to have a final dinner together, later this week, at Fondue Fred's--one of the places that we used to eat at during gaming, for the five years or so that I hosted at my old Hillegass Apartment.
He's really going to be missed.
