Gamed over at Donald's house today, which is pretty typical for Saturday.

The main part of the day was spent slowly moving forward with the start of half two of our current Erzo campaign. A lot of this week was spent fleshing out the city that we're now living in. Eric R. handed out pieces of paper to everyone so that we could each give detail to our particular areas of influence within the the city.

I got the "Dragon Temple", the "Dragon Shrine", and the "Dragon Visitor Center" (complete with Gift Shop!). It probably took me two hours to detail everything in the three locales, but then I was doing things like naming all the individual dragon teeth that were near the Dragon Shrine (which is built between the jaws of a fallen dragon). It was funny to see Donald whip out a couple of different diagrams while I was still slaving over that first picture of the Shrine, figuring out what colors the bricks were painted, what the dais was made of, etc.

Well, I did say on Thursday that I was the most inventive person I knew (during Ostrakon).

When we're over at Donald's house, we also sometimes get to play other games, namely because I tend to bring games and I get there a lot earlier than I'm able to when it's down in the South Bay, and I can also leave a couple of hours after gaming proper without having to stay through until midnight+. Today we played three games of Coloretto [5/5], most before the Erzo game, and then one game of Ticket to Ride [5/5], which was afterward. I had annoying second place finishes all around (except one game of Coloretto where I got creamed).

The Ticket to Ride was the most annoying because I did one of my favorite tricks, drawing destination cards on the last turn, and as usual it cost me the game. I was pretty sure I was slightly behind and I knew that 2 of the remaining 9 tickets were good for me, one to the tune of 20 points, so I figured it was worth the chance of losing a couple of points in exchange for possibly winning the game. I didn't get the tickets I wanted, I ended up losing 8 points, and then lost the game by less than 8 points. I cursed losing out solely because of my dumb decision, but given that I've played the game 10x or 15x as much as anyone else in that group, I was just as happy not to have sharked them.

Oh, and Dave P. wasn't at gaming today because his wife went into labor. He really should have planned it better, for her to go into labor on Sunday or something, and might have been able to if the child-birthing field were properly unionized.

(That'd be a labor union, y'see.)
