Things I Learned This Weekend
Apr. 25th, 2004 08:39 pm- Whacking the weeds in the front yard is an invitation for homeless people to camp out on your front lawn within the next 24 hours.
- Conversely, weeds make a good "Do Not Disturb" sign.
- If you want to whack the weeds on the median strip in front of your house, there will inevitably be a car parked there at any time you even considering doing such whacking, preventing it for fear of paint damage.
- Short-term gain can often destroy long-term revenues for a business. (Comics n' Comics Berkeley went out of business on Friday, six or seven years after selling off their much better retail location a block up Telegraph.)
- Grant Morrison's Animal Man is still quite good, 15 years later, and why it took almost that long for DC to finish up their trade paperback collections of his work is a question for the ages.
- Stress is indeed muchly reduced when you spend a couple of days lazing about, playing games, and reading comics.
