Hate, Hate, Hate Microsoft Word

Agh! I hate Microsoft Word.

I've been spending all afternoon reworking the Encounter Tables for Arkham Horror, which are all in a Microsoft Word document.

The little numbered random event lists end up getting interpretted as MW numbered lists, which is fine, but $&*$@ing Word is constantly making arbitrary decisions about what list I should be continuing, what symbols it should be marked with, how far it should be indented, etc., and they're constantly wrong and so I have to redo them again and again.

How can the top word processing program be so totally messed up!?

Damn you Bill Gates, damn you to Hell!

I've fought with Word over that feature, too. I suppose if you're making lists that conform exactly to one particular style you'd be in heaven. God forbid you are trying to do anything different though. But I guess that's the MS way.

I hate it too. But you can turn all that auto-correct and auto-format off. In 2003, go to Tools --> AutoFormat Options...

Try maintaining your composure when you get the "A chart in this file has become corrupted" warning button. That cost me several hours of reconstruction work this week.

Because the reason it's the "top" word processing program has nothing to do with how good it is. Gates owns all the properties, and we just pay rent when the dice put us there.
