As I mentioned last week, I now have an actual contract for the elf book, with deadline, and so I'm working to get it on my schedule for completion.
The new book is 35k longer than it was intended to be in its previous incarnation, which in itself wasn't done and has to be partially rewritten. So, I've got a lot of writing that needs to be done before December 20th.
My current plan is to ensure that 3k gets written every week, to keep me moving forward, and hopefully some weeks will be better than that, allowing me to get ahead and have plenty of time for polishing.
This weekend I wrote the main spread for the red elves (which I just finished and is 1.6k), and I'm then going to write up one of my new yellow elf forests (as I find if each forest is written on a different day, that helps to differentiate them better). Enkloso seems to be the first one I have on my list. That'll be another 1.6k, and plenty of first draft for the week.
The one other bit of writing high on my list is my next Knucklebones article, which is on auctions. Those pieces are short, so I'm not worried about finishing it, but I do need to start getting some quotes from designers to help add some interest to the article. So I need to get some letters out today.
Ah, email.
