Getting Ready

So we're really getting ready for our trip. We did our last shopping (hopefully!) tonight, picking up various junk food from Trader Joe's, for the 12-hour marathon of airports and also for the vacation on the other side.

Our suitcase is mostly packed and our backpacks are getting close too.

And, we're really quite ready for a vacation, as our cat drama has continued, albeit in a lessened form. Munchkin is back to eating quite greedily, but unfortunately Cobweb's return to good eating lasted all of a week. Now she's down to a little bit here and there.

We are making some last minute changes to her meds. We're adding extra Pepcid AC to her diet of pills, and the Vet will give our catsitter a new prescription of even strong anti-nausea if she asks for it. We've told her she should if Cobweb continues eating poorly for the next couple of days.

And that's about as much as we can do at this point.

I think over this vacation, Kimberly will come to understand why my stress level goes down so far in Hawaii. Because when you're out there, you can just put everything aside, because you can't possibly do anything about it anyway!

(Unless of course we get daily and troubling reports from our catsitter, who's let us know that she'll message or email us every day.)

Among our things packed: Carcassonne: The Discovery and Lost Cities (which might have gone with us to the islands every time, and is showing its age). I'll need to check soon that our luggage isn't topping 50 pounds, as it often gets close.

Among things planned: maybe some hiking, maybe a trip to the North Shore, definitely some swimming (for me at least).

Among the things I hope we're not carrying with us: stress, worry, desire to control things that we only can in a limited way. Viruses.

Looking forward to a relaxing, warm*, beautiful week.

* I talked to my dad on Sunday and he said, "Bad News" and that it was cold and raining. "60s?" I asked. "70s" he said. Though it turned out to be 68 at the time according to my iPhone. Meanwhile our high pressure system has collapsed and we're down in the frigid 40s-50s here in the Bay Area. It might rain on us when we trek out to the airport.

Yeah, I could use some tropical paradise.
