Last night was fun. One tactic I tried to use (and part of the reason I bought any military units at all) was to try to outbid people for the battles when I wanted the reverse outcome of the person who started the war.

In particular, since I had that early Rome tile, I worked really hard to be on the attacking side whenever someone would start a war against Rome. Since I had such a weak army, I could pretty much guarantee a loss, which might even move Rome UP in the standings. It never quite went that way, but it was close a couple of times. Very amusing tactic, in my opinion.

I still think there's a problem with games where you can't figure out who's winning (VPs, I mean), but I suspect that it might be easier in a second game.
